We are called out to Barcombe for everything from a single blown circuit to a full loss of supply. The installation is made safe first, then tested, then repaired.
Callouts across Barcombe are answered 24 hours a day. Our vans carry the parts for the faults we see most often here, so a repair does not usually mean a second appointment.
Work ranges from emergency electrical repairs in the middle of the night to planned jobs such as consumer unit replacement. Everything is tested to BS 7671 and certified to suit the work carried out.
Prices are agreed before work starts, there is no call-out charge, and the rate is the same at night and at weekends.

No. Where we have had to lift a board, cut a chase or open a ceiling, we make good as far as the electrical work allows and clear up before we leave.
Yes. If the supply into the property is sound then the fault is inside the installation, and that is exactly what electrical fault finding is for. We establish which side of the cut-out the problem sits on.
An older board is not automatically unlawful, but many lack RCD protection and cannot be repaired with parts still in production. We will tell you whether repair is realistic or whether consumer unit replacement makes more sense.
Most are done within a couple of hours, including testing. Tracing an intermittent fault takes longer, because it has to be proved rather than assumed.

Basic call out 9.30am – 3pm which would not be within an hour would be £110
*When there will be any rewiring, we will specify works and extra costs before any extra work would commence.
Also rates are multiplied by 1.5 for any weekend works

Barcombe spreads along lanes north of Lewes, close to the Ouse, and that shapes the electrical work here more than anything else. Old property near the water where insulation resistance falls as the fabric takes up moisture is the factor that shapes most of the emergency work we are called out for.
The housing runs to former mills and maltings, cottages with cellars below the water table and cottages and period houses near the water, and each was wired to the standards of its day. Additions made since, from extensions to garden supplies, are often where the weak point turns out to be.
Age is only half of it. The other half is load: kitchens, showers and heating that draw far more than the original design allowed for, on circuits that were never uprated to match.
The result is predictable enough: insulation faults that show up after wet weather. Testing turns that from a guess into a known circuit and a known cause.
Landlords have a further duty: in England a rented home needs an EICR at least every five years and before a new tenancy. All work is tested to BS 7671.
We would always rather look at something early. A flickering light or a socket that feels warm is a cheap visit now and an expensive one later.
